You can call external photo editors from the menu entry 'Image > Edit with ... > Other'. But not all applications can save the the edited photo back to the Photos Library. Some may need updating.
- External Editors for Photos This is a brilliant piece of coding. It is exactly with what Photos should have come equipped! Yes, you can access certain parts of photo manipulation apps natively through Photos, but you cannot access the whole of an app with all its functions.

For some external editors I still need the external Photo Editors extension. It has the nice command 'replace original file'. If an external editor cannot return the edited version correctly, I save it to the Desktop, and External Editors will replace the the current edited version by the saved file.
External Editors is also useful to pass the RAW source files to the external editor. Or convert the source to a TIFF:

Great! Makes Photos powerful and saved me money.
I wanted a quick way to change perspective in photos app on Mac and was about to spend nearly a lot more in App Store when I spotted this App. This not only allows me to use the exccellent DxO app tO already have installed to do this but also lets me drop into Adobe PS CC and use all the power of this if needed. As others have said it would be great if I could use Lightroom as well, or at least the editing part of Lightroom. Still very impressed in the way it found all of the other programs.
What I’ve been waiting for...
As mentioned by other reviewers, this is a feature available in iPhoto that should have been in Photos from day one. It installed without any problems and does exactly was it says. I can choose from a list of any photo editors I have loaded on my Mac, or I can add select a favourite that will load everytime.
A brilliant little program and well worth the 0.99p!

So Simple, So Great, So Thanks!
Something that should have been implemented by Apple. Great credit to the developer for spotting the need. It works perfectly for me - able to open GIMP for those images which need a little more editing. Save the file and it overwrites the file in Apple’s photo library - perfect! No opening GIMP, exporting and then importing again. Hours saved. For .75p. Can’t I pay more??
